SXL Automotive Wire is a high-performance automotive primary wire constructed using cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation that provides excellent high-temperature resistance, abrasion resistance and chemical corrosion resistance. SXL wire is a recognized wire type for use in harsh automotive environments under SAE J1128 standards. Of the three common cross-linked wires (TXL, GXL and SXL), it has the thickest insulation thickness (standard wall thickness). The conductor is typically stranded bare copper wire . The gauge varies , but is typically between about 8 AWG and 20 AWG .
